Newsletter

Welcome from Piera Freccero, Head of Programmes, King’s Global Health Partnerships
I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Head of Programmes at King’s Global Health Partnerships (KGHP). With a rich background in international development spanning over many years, I am deeply committed to driving positive change and fostering impactful partnerships in global health.

In my first few months at KGHP, I have been very fortunate to visit our programme of work in Somaliland. The photo story in this newsletter highlights our efforts to improve healthcare access and outcomes in the country, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. Additionally, I had the privilege of participating in a workshop on decentralising cancer care during my visit to Zambia, which was an insightful and collaborative event.

During my visits and interactions, I have been immensely impressed by the dedication and passion demonstrated by KGHP staff and partners. It is inspiring to witness the incredible work being done to advance global health equity and make a tangible difference in the lives of underserved communities.

In this edition of our newsletter, we share a collection of articles that showcase our ongoing initiatives, including launching an ambitious new partnership in the Gambia; securing funding to develop approaches for postgraduate medical education in Africa; transforming emergency care services in DRC; and implementing quality improvement programmes in Somaliland. Each article underscores our commitment to addressing global health challenges and seizing opportunities for positive change.

I invite you to explore these articles and join us in celebrating the collective achievements of KGHP and our esteemed partners. Together, we will continue to make a meaningful difference in global health.
